I am a Consultant Counseling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS) with AFBPsS and I am accredited by the BABCP, British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. I have worked for the NHS as a psychologist for 20 years and have extensive experience providing treatment across a wide spectrum of life’s difficulties. The majority of my work is based on Cognitive behavioural and Person-Centred principles.
I completed my degree at Liverpool John Moore University and then went on to gain a Certificate in Psychological Counselling at City University, London. I continued my higher education at City University, London, successfully completing my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. My thesis was based on client experiences of therapy which still informs my practice to ensure clients have a positive experience of therapy.
I want the best for my clients and if after an assessment session we both feel we cannot work together, I will do my best to signpost you to a service that can better match your needs. Therapy can be a trial and error process and finding the right therapist for you can take some time and patience. The client-therapist relationship is of great importance as we will be working collaboratively together toward improving your psychological wellbeing.
I have many years of experience in providing clinical supervision to trainee psychologists, qualified psychologists, and CBT therapists. I thoroughly enjoy this aspect of my work as it allows me to be part of an individual’s growth in becoming a competent and compassionate therapist.
